Taipei – city of night markets and street food
Taipei was a little piece of night market heaven. A 4 days side trip from Hong Kong (part of 2009 Asia trip), we spent exploring the city, eating, and night market shopping. Shilin was the biggest one – but there were many little ones that were equally good. Night market – stalls of different clothing, accessories, food, miscellaneous items – so much fun to explore and bargain!
Other notable things in Taipei – it’s definitely a blend of the old with the new – with world renowned buildings like Taipei 101 and modern shopping haven with all the brand names you want. But just a few bus stops away are little pockets of the old, where a day trip to Beitou gets you away from the city, into natural hot spring and relaxation.
