Cherry Blossoms @ Washington DC
So as per previous posts, we had to cancel our Japan 2011 trip due to the calamity going on over there. and still is unfortunately. The original intent of the trip was for me to see the Cherry Blossoms, so Nick thought of a mini getaway to Washington DC first weekend of April since the Washington DC’s Cherry Blossom Festival is happening then! What a great idea.
Though it wasn’t set in Japan, it was still as pretty as I would imagine. minus all the japanese people walking around. Instead there were lots and lots of tourists. I didn’t realize the Cherry Blossom festival is such a major happening in the city during these weeks. even their main roads alerted drivers of the potential delays due to high traffic. Though everyone was very friendly as they were all enjoying the picturesque walks. One thing to note in Washington – they leave a lot of walking space for pedestrians and green spaces around monuments/memorials/major buildings. it’s quite a pleasant city for tourists.
The Cherry blossoms made for some awesome pictures – the gallery below is only selected few!
